Four Amazing Golf Events...

Joe Reighard, head of the H.O. Hawbaker 2009 Golf Tournament, presents a check for $6870 to Jamie Huntley, Executive Director of Camp Victory! Bob McBride and Chris Howell, co-chairs of "Golf for Victory" made sure the weather was perfect for this wonderful golf outing for the third year in a row! They presented Camp Victory a check for over $30,000!!!!

We were so fortunate this year to be the recipient of a check from the “RestoreCorp
Annual Golf Tournament”  that was held on September 9, 2009 at the North Hill Country Club. We were thrilled to receive a check for $3,810!!!!  Two of the people involved with this great Tournament were Brian Paule, grandson of our board member Myles Katerman and Mary Jane Romejko grandmother of a Camp Dost Camper!

And, we also received a wonderful check for $3,400!!!! from the Bloomsburg Rotary Annual Golf Tournament!  It was amazing to receive all of these wonderful contributions!  A heartfelt “thanks” to everyone involved in making these tournaments so successful!!!

Dr. O's Victory Ride 2009

Dr. O’s Victory Ride was a huge success for the 15th year!  The weather was beautiful and the course was scenic and interesting!  We had over 400 people ride the 83 mile course, starting at and returning to Camp Victory.  The day began with a delicious breakfast and ended with a huge, wonderful chicken dinner!  It was an event filled with fun and great commeraderie…..well planned and carried out by Tim Hammaker and his amazing group of volunteers!  AND……Camp Victory was presented a check for $11,006!!!!

Appreciation Day 2009

Camp Victory’s Appreciation Day was held on Saturday, September 8, 2009, in the main dining hall.  This event is held every year to honor all of our wonderful  volunteers and donors that help make it possible for us to continue to provide the camp experience to our very special campers.  Gail Truax and her wonderful kitchen crew served a delicious dinner to over 120 people.  Our special honorees for this year included: Myles and Joanne Katerman, Lakeville Specialty Produce, Ginger Woolcock, and Derl Derr, who retired from the Nicholas Wolff Foundation Board of Directors after serving 15 years as Chairman of the Resources Development Committee!  A very special “thank you” goes out to Derl for his 15 years of love and dedication to Camp Victory and all of our very special campers!

Camp Victory's New Arts & Crafts Center

The Myers Building has had a complete “makeover” and it now houses our beautiful Arts and Crafts Center!  And, thanks to grants from the Degenstein Foundation and the Cherokee Foundation, the Arts and Crafts Center is fully equipped with tables, benches, cabinets, sinks, shelves, and everything anyone could imagine to be able to complete a wide variety of art activities.  There are three amazing rooms available: one for art activities, one for ceramic/pottery activities, and one for woodworking activities. We even have our own kiln, so our campers can make mugs, tiles, and even ceramic “Scamper the Squirrel”!  Our Arts and Crafts Director, Karen Reigel, was a very popluar addition to the Camp Victory Staff!

Camp Victory 2009

To date, we’ve had 1,289 campers pass through our gates, swim  in our pool, and climb the climbing wall this summer...and the season isn’t over yet!  This weekend, October 16 – 17 – 18 we will host Camp Energy, a weekend weight loss camp for teenagers.  And, next Saturday, October 24,  Camp Courage will once again host a one-day camping experience for children ages 4 – 5 – 6 who have suffered the loss of a loved one...Camp Little Brave Hearts.

We may actually pass the 1,300 camper mark this summer for the first time ever!  And, we believe that we’ll be adding an additional special camp for the summer of 2010!

Camp Victory is truly a “special camp for special kids”!  And we continue to be able to provide this amazing camp experience because of all of the wonderful volunteers and donors that give in so many ways each year!

Thanks to everyone for another wonderful camping season!

Endowment Update

Within the last year, dedicated volunteers and members of the Board of Directors of the Nicholas Wolff Foundation have embarked on an ambitious endeavor to build an endowment to ensure the future of Camp Victory.

As we approach the 12-month mark, we are happy to report that we have raised over $1,060,000, exceeding the halfway point to our $2 million goal. Especially with the economic challenges our communities and our nation have faced, this is indeed incredible progress.

We owe this progress to special friends like you. Without your support and advocacy, we certainly would not have gotten to this place.

As we move into the second year of The Legacy Campaign for Camp Victory, the Board of Directors and our campaign committee remain committed to our goal. Some of our immediate priorities include raising awareness about Camp and our fundraising project in the region as well as continuing to reach out to those friends who have been generous in their support in the past.

Thanks to all of you for your support. If you have questions about the campaign or would like to know how you can help, please feel free to contact us at ....570-458-6530.
